Always check tide times!
Holy Island is located on the A1, about halfway between Newcastle and Edinburgh.
The road to the island includes a causeway that can only be crossed in low tide. The tides come in twice a day (at different times), and the road will then be closed for between three and seven hours, depending on the tide.
You should always check Northumberland Council’s advertised safe crossing times and NEVER cross outside of these times.
For further information about crossing the causeway safely click here.
Parking is available in the main car park, which you’ll see as soon as you arrive on the island (Pay & Display, credit card and app payments available). There is a disabled car park in the village at Green lane (drive into the village and take the first right). More details about parking are available here.
