Starbank Cottage (Retreat)

Simple, welcoming accommodation offered by the Community of Aidan and Hilda for community members, fulltime Christian workers, pilgrims and spiritual seekers looking for a place for retreat and prayer. This one-bedroom cottage accommodates up to three guests in a twin room (with one double and one single bed) and double sofa bed in the lounge. There is a comfortable lounge, a well-equipped kitchen with a dining area, an ensuite shower room off the bedroom and another shower room downstairs. There is Wifi but, to allow peace and contemplation, there is no television.

The community also offers another retreat house on the island, High Rigg House, which sleeps six people.

Cost:

2024: £66 per night + £66 service charge per visit
2025: £67 per night + £75 service charge per visit

Use of the sofa bed is charged at £20 per night

Dogs (up to two) are charged at £30 per visit

We require a deposit of 20% of the full fee with the booking. The balance of the fees is required one month before arrival. Bookings are not complete until you have received confirmation from the Bookings Manager.

Minimum stays and arrivals/departures:

2 nights minimum stay

– The end of one booking (departure by 10am) can coincide on the same day with the beginning of the next (arrival from 3pm) – ie we can do one-day changeovers;
– We don’t have departures on a Saturday, because that splits weekends;
– We don’t have arrivals on a Sunday, so that our cleaners can take that day off;
