Profile
The Holy Island Marathon takes place annually in May. The starting point is Burnmouth in Scotland, from where the route takes runners to the coastal path, through Berwick-upon-Tweed and along the Causeway to Holy Island. Terrain is varied and includes paths and dunes, as well as an optional crossing along the muddy Pilgrim’s Way to the island (though you can choose the road crossing instead).
All runners must reach the causeway on time for the safe crossing time, and the timing of the run takes account of this.
Runner numbers are heavilly restricted due to wildlife perservation concerns. Booking usually opens in December for the following year.
